Feeling Unwell? When is it OK to Come to Work?

Spread the love
We are well on our way to cold, flu and COVID season. It is inevitable that you or someone on your staff will not feel well over the next couple of months. Now is a great time to give your staff some guidelines on when it is OK to come to work when they are feeling unwell and when they should stay home.

How do you decide if you are too sick to go to work?

Sometimes it’s hard to take time off work or go to the doctor, but you also don’t want to be that person who infects everyone at work. Many of us used to tough it out before the pandemic, but the etiquette is different now. So, how do you decide what to do? One way is to gage what type of sickness you may have and if you are contagious or not. I shared this document (click the image to download the PDF) with my staff and asked them to use it when deciding whether or not they should come to work when the don’t feel well.

If you feel well enough to come into work, but you are still not 100%….do these things to to minimize the chances of infecting anyone else:

  • Wear a mask.
  • Follow solid sanitizing and hygiene habits.

Sometimes the common cold can last weeks and few people can afford to take that kind of time off work, so do what you need to to take care of yourself and others.
Even more importantly, do what you can to try to prevent getting sick in the first place (healthy living, exercise, nutrition, sleep, fresh air etc.)

Stay healthy!
