We started a Senior Study in mid July and I wanted to share the details with you. If you start planning now, you could launch your study this fall!

Why You Should Run a Senior Study

Provides metrics and benefits that can help you provide services to your clients.

Highlights your services to participants who could become clients.

Help your newer trainers gain exposure, experience and build their clientele base.

Reinforce your commitment to a scientific, evidence based approach to fitness and health.


How to Get Senior Study Participants

Create a flier with specific criteria and benefits of the study. (Example: for Senior Study….participants must be non-exercising, over 55 years old and able to train 2x/week for 4 weeks).

Ask staff members to distribute the flier to local apartment complexes, condos and local businesses.

Tell current clients about the study and ask them if they know anyone who fits the criteria and would be interested in participating in the study. They will receive free personal training for a month!

Post the details about your study and your flier on social media and send out an email to your database with all of the details.

Send information about your fitness study to your local media outlets. You could try your local paper, local business journal and your local Chamber of Commerce.


Our Upcoming Study

Purpose of the Senior Study

We are conducting a 4-week Fitness Study at NWPT to measure whether Seniors, working out with a Personal Trainer only two times per week, can experience significant improvements in overall health & fitness, increased energy, reduced stress, improved balance and strength, improved functional movement, and whether it provides enough motivation and inspiration for an individual to move more on their own and make better nutrition choices.

Program/Participant Expectations:

  • NOT currently exercising regularly.
  • Over 55 years and older
  • Need to commit to exercising at least 2 days per week with one of our trainers in a Private Training setting.
  • Baseline and post-study measurements will be measured and follow-up measurements will be completed one month later.
  • Study starts Summer 2024.
  • Results will be used to analyze the effect exercise has on various health metrics.

We are asking for 50 volunteers for this study.

If you do a great job, and your participants experience great results, they will continue training with you! Make sure you and your staff leave time at the end of the study to talk with participants about how they will continue to work with you.
